To finish this cross stitch kit took a very long time, mainly because it became UFO for two years. But I'm glad I made myself finish it because I really love it :)

I bought the Tarot Cards the other day and I was thinking I should do something nice to put them into. I went through my old stash and found the old cloth which I immediately fell in love with. I sewed a pouch from it, added a ribbon on the top and now my Tarot Cards have a new and beautiful home :)

Minule som si kupila Tarotove karty a tak som rozmyslala, ze by som pre ne mohla spravit nieco pekne kam by som ich odkladala. Poprehrnala som sa v mojich starych zasobach a narazila som na staru latku do ktorej som sa hned zamilovala. Tak som z nej usila vrecusko, na vrch prisila krajku a moje karty maju teraz pekny novy domov :)

A Valentine Bouquet

A bought a few lollipops the other day and when I came home I was thinking what kind of decoration I could do from them. And I got an idea to make a bouquet from them. I took a small alcohol glass, put a crepe paper inside and the Valentine bouquet was done :)

Minule som v obchode kupila zopar lizaniek a ked som dosla domov, rozmyslala som aku dekoraciu by som z nich mohla urobit. Potom som dostala napad spravit z nich kyticku. Zobrala som stamperlik, vystlala ho krepovym papierom a Valentinska kyticka bola na svete :)

Hi my readers and visitors, this Saturday I'm leaving for a long vacation to my native country, Slovakia. I'll stay there for about 3 months and since my mom doesn't have a computer, she doesn't have internet either. So, naturally, I'm not sure when I'll be able to get online. But I'm planning on stitching there when I have time (I already put some kits into my suitcase), so I should have something to show when I'll come back. Stay safe everyone! I'll miss you all!

Zostanem tam asi 3 mesiace a pretoze moja mama nema internet, nie som si ista kedy sa sem budem moct dostat. Summer Break...

Hello there, all my friends and readers!!

Just wanted to let you all know that I usually don't stitch during the summer time. It's just too hot for that, so I won't be posting for some time. Well, I might do some stitching when the weather gets a bit colder, but I don't promise anything... I finished Home of a Needleworker, so I will post that later.

I've Been Reading...

This is what I've been reading in time of my absence here on blog. I was looking for something new to read and a friend of mine recommended me these. It's a collection of many books from Dragonlance series. If you like fantasy books, these are great to read ...kind of like Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings books. In case somebody is interested, you can read more about them in the link below the picture.

Tieto knihy citam v case mojej nepritomnosti tu na blogu. Zhanala som nieco nove na citanie a jeden moj znamy mi odporucil tieto knihy. Je to velka kolekcia knih zo serie Dragonlance. Kto ma rad fantazijne knihy, tak tieto su super ...nieco ako Tolkienove knihy Pan Prstenov. V pripade zaujmu sa o tychto knihach mozte dozvediet viac z odkazu pod obrazkom.

Sorry for not posting so often anymore, but with the spring weather finally being here, I spend a lot of time outside and then, in the evening, I don't feel like stitching. Have been reading books :) ...But I finished the sampler. I think it turned out very nice and I'm glad I changed the colors because I like it much more that way.

2. Som velmi poriadkumilovna - vsetko v mojej domacnosti ma svoje miesto.

3. Som tak trocha punktickar - rada robim veci tym spravnym sposobom.

4. Vztah k vysivaniu som zdedila od mojem babky, ktora ma zaroven aj naucila vysivat.

5. Vysivam nieco cez 20 rokov - je to dokonca viac ako pocitam moje detske zaciatky.

6. Mojou oblubenou farbou je fialova a levandulova ... ale mam rada aj ruzovu, cervenu, modru a hnedu.

7. Mojimi oblubenymi zvieratkami su macky (velke selmy tiez) ... a motyle.

Scary Weather

We had definitely crazy weather over the weekend. If you heard about the strong windy storm close to NYC, that was it. It was really scary ... There are many fallen trees, branches and other debris all over ... many of them damaged the houses, cars, etc.... and there is also flood from too much rain. There were even a few causalities. We lost power for one day ... well, we consider ourselves to be those lucky ones, because there are still about half of the city without power and it is not expected to be fully restored until Wednesday, so, it's 5 days without electricity ...cannot even imagine that ... We also have 2 knocked down trees, one behind and one in front of our apartment building ...luckily, they didn't caused any real damage.

Cez vikend sme tu mali skutocne blaznive pocasie. Ak niekto pocul o silnej burke so silnym narazovym vetrom blizko NYC tak to bolo ono. Bolo to strasidelne ... vsade naokolo je plno povalanych stromov a konarov ktore poskodili domy, auta, atd... a tiez je tu pozaplavovanych vela oblasti zo silneho a husteho dazda. Bolo tu dokonca aj par umrti. Stratili sme elektrinu na jeden den ...ale povazujeme sa za tych stastlivejsich, pretoze pol mesta este stale nema prud ktory podla odhadov bude uplne obnoveny vo vsetkych domacnostiach az v stredu, takze to je 5 dni bez elektriny ...ani si to nedokazem predstavit... Tiez mame dva vyvratene stromy, jeden pred a jeden za panelakom ...nastastie ale nesposobili nijaku vaznu skodu.

Another one of my crochet creations. This time it's a Christmas tree. There is an outside border in the original pattern, but I didn't like it, so I left it out. Now, I'm not sure whether I should leave it the way it is now, or to look for another border.

Dalsia z mojich hackovanych vytvorov. Tentokrat je to vianocny stromcek. V original vzore je to este cele obhackovane dookola, ale mne sa ten ramcek nepacil, tak som ho vynechala. Teraz rozmyslam ci to mam nechat tak ako to je, alebo pohladat nejaky iny vzor na okrajovy ramcek.

Hi everybody, I hope you're all doing well.

I haven't been stitching in the last couple of days because I got sick. Nothing serious really, just a silly cold, but you know how it is ... I'm just not in a mood to do anything, I've been just laying on the sofa, under a blanket, watching TV or reading a book ...and drinking tons of herbal tea... I did manage to finish Petites Maisons Rouges from Tralala into a pinkeep, but I was toooo lazy to take a photo, so I'll show it to you later when I feel better.

Zdravim vsetkych mojich citatelov a dufam, ze sa vsetci mate dobre.

V poslednych dnoch som nic nevysivala pretoze som ochorela. Nie je to nic vazne, iba hlupa nadcha, ale viete ako to je... Nemam naladu robit vobec nic, iba lezim na gauci pod dekou, pozeram telku alebo citam knihu ...a pijem tony bylinkoveho caju... Podarilo sa mi sice dokoncit Petites Maisons Rouges from Tralala ako pinkeep, ale bola som prilis leniva na to aby som to vyfotila, tak vam to ukazem neskor az sa budem citit lepsie.

Another two quickies from my own designs. I did a little change on both of them however. Both original patterns have borders, but I left them out because the banding I chose has a little border on its own already. I think it would have looked too overwhelming otherwise.

My Growing Collection

I received these beautiful pair of scissors this week from far away Japan. Yuko has a scissor sale on her blog and the more I saw the scissors appearing on the friends' blogs, the bigger my temptation. The proper stitcher needs scissors, right ...and the more, the better... So, I ordered them and was surprised when they got to me in only a week. I was surprised because when I'm sending something to my native country, Slovakia, which is much closer than Japan, it takes more than a week (usually around 10 days, even more) for my post to get there. (Obviously, the post office in my country needs some serious improvement, LOL.) But my scissors arrived safely and I'm very happy about them. They are so beautiful and I just love them! Thank you so much Yuko!

Tento tyzden mi dosli dvoje noznice na vysivanie co som si objednala z dalekeho Japonska. Yuko na svojom blogu ponuka na predaj noznice a cim viac som videla ako sa objavuju na ostatnych blogoch, tym vacsie bolo moje pokusenie. Spravna vysivacka potrebuje noznice, vsak ...a cim viac, tym lepsie... Tak som si ich objednala a bola som vazne prekvapena ked ku mne dosli v priebehu jedneho tyzdna. Prekvapena som bola preto, pretoze ked nieco posielam domov (co je podstatne blizsie ako Japonsko) tak kym moje veci dorazia na miesto urcenia tak to trva viac ako tyzden (zvycajne 10 dne, niekedy aj viac). (Ocividne posta na Slovensku potrebuje poriadne vylepsit :) Moje noznicky dosli v poriadku a ja som z nich cela nadsena. Su vazne nadherne. Dakujem Yuko!

Here is my version of February design for the SAL - My Little Heart. After a lot of thinking, I decided to stitch the first pattern mainly because I just love the balloon like heart. It's so adorable :) I used a slightly different shades of colors.

Tu je moja verzia februaroveho vzoru pre projekt SAL - My Little Heart. Po dlhom rozmyslani som sa nakoniec rozhodla vysit prvy vzor, hlavne preto, ze sa mi strasne paci to balonove srdiecko na snurke. Je roztomile :) Na vysivku som pouzila trocha ine odtiene muliniek.

I finished my first design from Tralala. I love this design, mainly because it contains some of my favorite things I like to stitch: cat and hearts, so it was very pleasant to stitch. I'm still thinking how I will finish it of ... I will probably make a pinkeep from it ... I found pretty flowery purple fabric in my stash...

Vysila som januarovu predlohu a uz sa tesim na dalsiu :) ...Tento SAL sa mi velmi paci, dizajn je milucky a tiez sa mi paci napad s pouzitim srdiecka v kazdej predlohe a tiez v rame. Dobra praca pri navrhovani Sylvia! Dakujem! Velmi sa mi paci :)

***Tak ma napadlo, ze mozno nie kazdy vie co je ten SAL - takze vysvetlenie: Je to vysivaci projekt, ktory trva cely 1 rok. Je rozdeleny na dvanast casti (podla mesiacov v roku) a kazdy mesiac sa vysiva jedna cast vysivky. Tento SAL do ktoreho som sa zapojila ja je vlastne takym tajomstvom pretoze okrem dizajnera nikto nevie aka bude dalsia vysivka ... takze je to vlastne take prekvapko co sa mi paci ...ale sudiac podla januarovej vysivky, som si ista, ze aj tie ostatne budu milucke :)

This is my last stitched piece in 2009 ...in blue color this time. Back in my native country, Slovakia, we always used to have two Christmas trees of two different color combinations: red-gold and blue-silver. Here in the US, we have only one Christmas tree of red and gold combination, but I still like to stitch at least one piece in blue color.

Toto je moja posledna vysivka v roku 2009 ...tentokrat v modrej farbe. Na Slovensku, sme vzdy mavali dva vianocne stromceky v dvoch roznych kombinaciach: cerveno-zlaty, a modro-strieborny. Tu v statoch mame iba jeden stromcek, cerveno-zlaty, ale stale si rada vysijem aspon jednu vecu v modrej farbe.

Rozhodla som sa zucastnit SAL, ktory robi Sylvia (odkaz je na bocnom paneli). Vedela som, ze robi SAL, ale zucastnit som sa rozhodla az ked som uvidela prvu predlohu ...rozkosny snehuliacik... Hned som sa donho zamilovala :) Uz sa nemozem dockat az uvidim dalsie predlohy, velmi sa na ne tesim :)

I was flipping through some magazines the other day when I came across beautiful things made from felt. They were so gorgeous that I couldn't resist to try to make something by myself. I made a little stocking ornament ...nothing special, but I love the simplicity of it.

Minule som listovala v casopisoch, ked som narazila na nadherne vecicky vyrobene z flisu. Boli take rozkosne, ze som neodolala pokuseniu vyrobit si nieco podobne vlastnorucne. Usila som vianocnu ozdobku v tvare cizmicky ...nic zvlastne, ale prave ta jednoduchost sa mi paci.

Dokoncila som dalsiu ozdobku z free prehlohy ktoru som vysila pred par dnami. Zamilovala som sa do tychto vypchatych ozdob, vyzeraju skvele v mojom kosiku ...moj vianocny kosik vyfotim neskor...

When I look at my Christmas stitching this year, it sure looks that I love trees as I stitched several of them ...and red color too of course ;) So, here it goes, another cute stuffed ornament for my Christmas basket decoration ...and no, I'm not hanging it on the tree, I like it in the basket more.

Ked sa tak pozeram na moje tohtorocne vianocne vysivky, vyzera to, ze vazne mam v oblube stromceky kedze som ich uz vysila niekolko ...a cervenu farbu pravdaze tiez ;) Takze tu je, dalsia mila vianocna ozdoba do mojho vianocneho kosika ...nie, nedavam ju na stromcek, v kosiku sa mi paci viac.

Flat Fold Finish

I was thinking about how to finish this free Christmas pattern I stitched a few days ago and I finally decided to finish it as a flat fold. This is my very first flat fold finish, so I wasn't really sure if I should have finished it that way, mainly because the finishing instructions looked a little complicated. But I love the result and to finish it wasn't difficult at all. It was actually pretty easy and I even created my own photo tutorial which you can find here.

Rozmyslala som ako mam ukoncit tuto free vianocnu vysivku ktoru som vysila pred par dnami a nakoniec som sa rozhodla spravit z nej flat fold. Je to moj uplne prvy flat fold a preto som si nebola ista ci sa do toho vobec mam pustat, hlavne preto, ze navod vyzera dost complikovane. Vysledok sa mi ale velmi paci a ukoncenie nebolo vobec narocne, prave naopak, bolo to velmi lahke a dokonca som nafotila aj vlastny navod ako na to, ktory mozete najst tu v albume.

I stitched another lovely Christmas freebie. I absolutely love it ...it's simple, cute and so elegant at the same time... I also love my color choice, as red is definitely Christmas color to me. I'm thinking about framing it ...not sure yet though.

Vysila som dalsiu vianocnu freebie vysivku, ktora sa mi velmi paci ...je jednoducha, roztomila a zaroven elegantna... Tiez som velmi spokojna s farbou ktoru som pre nu vybrala, hlavne preto, ze pre mna je cervena rozhodne farbou vianoc. Rozmyslam, ze vysivku zaramujem ...nie som ale este stopercentne rozhodnuta.
